Child Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Privacy Statement

1.
Information Collected, Choice to Consent, and Access to Information

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) governs information gathering from or about children under the age of 13.  For information about our Web site’s information collection practices, please review our Privacy Policy.

Although Studathlete.com requires all its Members to be at least 13 years old, parents or legal guardians are able to create profiles of student athletes, including those under the age of 13 (“Profile”), under their Studathlete.com account.  Members have a right to revoke information collected about their student athletes by accessing their account and editing or deleting the Profile.  When Studathlete.com collects information about a child under 13 years old, COPPA required information and instructions will be accessible from the specific Web page that collects information about the child.

The following information is mandatory from all users (including children) who choose to create a Profile on the Studathlete.com Web site:

  • Name: First name and last name are required.
  • Date of Birth
  • Email address
  • School grade

The following information is optional from all users (including children) who choose to create a Profile on the Studathlete.com Web site:

  • Biographical information: Height/Weight
  • Additional Education information: Current GPA, ACT and SAT scores
  • Historical Growth Chart that details Studathlete.com’ past height and weight for each age.
  • Athletes’ sports information (i.e. type of sport, position, team name, team league, team division, coach, etc.) and statistics (i.e. 20 yard dash in xx seconds).
  • Photo for Profile

Studathlete.com allows registered coaches (link to disclaimer) to access our database of student athletes for scholarship opportunities.  Information regarding the student athlete’s first name, age, sport statistics, and team information will be accessible to registered coaches.  If a coach is interested in a particular student athlete, they can send an email to Studathlete.com, which in turn, notifies the parent or legal guardian about an interest in the student athlete.  The parent or legal guardian can then choose to disclose further information about the student athlete, including their Profile, by contacting the coach directly.

2.    Parental Consent

Studathlete.com does not disclose personal information it has collected from children to third parties without obtaining verifiable parental consent.  Verifiable consent from a child's parent or legal guardian is required before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information from a child under the age of 13.

Any personal information that a child posts on this Web site is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian. We ask that parents or legal guardians advise their children regarding issues of privacy, and their personal family practices on-line. We advise our members to use careful discretion regarding personal information, and not to give out any personal information that is not necessary in the use of our Web site. We are not responsible if a child voluntarily reveals their name, address, or other personal information to other users in our message boards.

Our policy is that no pornographic or otherwise offensive material is allowed on the Web site. Profanity by default, including on our message board, is not allowed.

Despite our precautions, it is possible for a user to post material in violation of these rules.  When a violating post is noted, it is removed or modified to remove objectionable material. While we attempt to remove such material as soon as possible, it does not prevent any user from being exposed to an offensive post prior to it being detected and removed or modified. The chances of this are minimized because a person must become a Member before they can participate and post any materials on Studathlete.com.

If a Member has concerns about any objectionable material or concerns about parent consent, please email us at: info@studathlete.com.

We do not actively use personal information in marketing ventures.
