Situational Hitting

During batting practice, ensure that you are using proper mechanics by challenging yourself to go through the various situations that you could encounter in a game.  The following are some:

  • Hit and Run - Ensure you make contact and hit the ball on the ground to the opposite field
  • Runner on third, less than two outs - A fly ball will score a run
  • Man on second with no outs - A ground ball to the right side will move the runner to third with only one out.
  • Infield In - Hard ground ball will most likely get through the infield
  • Two strikes - Must make contact. Shorten your swing a bit and put the ball in play
