Calling for the Ball

Calling for the ball enables you to make the play and avoid colliding with a teammate, which can cause serious injury. Call for the ball at all times on the field to get into the habit. 

Players must also understand who has priority when two players call for the ball. 

• Centerfielder has priority over everyone.
• Outfielders have priority over the infielders
• Shortstop has priority over the infield and then the second baseman
• If possible, the pitcher and then the catcher should always be called off by an infielder.
