Ball in the Dirt Baserunning
When on base, runners should be taking a secondary lead once the pitcher throws home. While following the ball to the plate, they should have the ability to pick up the direction of the ball and anticipate if the ball will go into the dirt. A baserunner with good anticipation will take off prior to the ball hitting the dirt and get a great jump on the catcher who most likely will not be able to field the ball cleanly.
